The Children's Safe Drinking Water Program provides clean water to those who really need it.
More than one billion people in the world have no access to clean drinking water. That's more than three times the population of the United States. Sadly, every 15 seconds a child dies from a waterborne disease. Even worse, most of these illnesses could have been prevented.
To raise awareness of this crisis, a group of celebrities and global influencers will climb Mt Kilimanjaro as part of Summit on the Summit. Follow their journey and see how you can help.
Most Americans have drinking water close at hand. It comes right to our homes at the turn of a faucet. But however clean it is, it could be cleaner.
A PUR water filter can remove or reduce many common contaminants such as agricultural pollutants, heavy metals, sediment, microbial cysts, chlorine (taste and odor), even trace amounts of pharmaceuticals that have been found in some major water supplies (for health effects, click here)
If you want clean, great-tasting water, there is no need for the waste and expense involved in purchasing bottled water. And compared to bottled water, a PUR filtration system can save you more than $600 a year.*
For each purchase of a PUR water filtration system, PUR will donate 10 liters of clean water to the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program.**
*Comparing annual capacity and average price of a PUR filtration system and recommended refills based on filter life expectancy to corresponding number of average price of 16 ounce water bottles.
**For each PUR system purchase, PUR will donate 10¢ to the Children's Safe Drinking Water Fund. For additional program details, visit www.purwater.com or www.csdw.org.
The Children's Safe Drinking Water Program provides clean drinking water to those who really need it.
Since 2004, P&G, the PUR brand and our partners have proudly shared over 1.6 billion liters of clean water to the developing world. And now we have an even more ambitious goal: to share more than four billion liters by the year 2012. To get there, we'll need your help.
In many parts of the world, waterborne disease is a leading cause of death among infants. This is tragic because it is so easily avoided. The PUR packet, developed by P&G in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is a powdered mixture that removes pathogenic microorganisms and suspended matter, making previously contaminated water clean. (See a demo here.)
When you purchase a PUR pitcher or faucet mount, a donation will be made to the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program, helping our partners to distribute these PUR packets to more people in the developing world.**

P&G is committed to improving the lives of people around the globe, saving children's lives and providing clean drinking water to as many people as possible. As the creator and producer of the PUR packets, P&G provides both its technical expertise and financial support for this work, in addition to human resources, manufacturing facilities, research and advocacy for this global issue. To date, P&G has invested more than $25 million toward clean drinking water.
